 Marilyn Monroe moment

This dress is AMAZING!!! The style and cut is so great, plus it has some history to it. This dress is my moms dress, until I decided to sneak it into my closet. (I wish I could put an emoji here). Anyway, my mom got this dress from a small boutique in Italy in 1993, only wore it two or three times, and it still remains impeccable. She wore this dress once to my aunts wedding shower, before I was born, and now its my turn to wear it at a party for a really close family friend of my mine!
The dress is a bit big on the waist, so I decided to pin it with one of my moms broaches to make it fit and to add some sparkle.
It was hard trying to accessorize the dress because it is so magnificent, brilliant, and different. I ended up figuring out how to accessorize it by adding simple and small bracelets and earrings on.
I have a few more finals left until I am free, but I need to push for one more day and then I technically don't have any more work! Woohoo!
I have to finish studying now, xox

Nautical

Blazer: Nautica | Tank: Hollister (old) | Jeans: Hollister | Shoes: Sperry Top Sider
Necklace: DIY | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: Nordstrom (old)

I felt a bit like a sailor the other day while attending the Nordstrom event. Maybe it was because of the striped shirt and the boat shoes, but whatever it was, I liked it! I am a really big fan of reusing clothes that you have not worn in a long time, such as this shirt. It is a really great way to wear something "new" and to be able to reinvent/style the article of clothing.
I absolutely love my shoes! I have been eyeing these boat shoes for quite a while now, and I have finally gotten them! You can wear them with shorts, cute skirts, jeans, and summer dresses...the possibilities are endless. Plus they are supper comfy and have good foot support. I definitely recommend them!
Well its finals week for me, so I have a bunch of tests I need to go finish studying for. Yay me...
Have a nice week!

Jules Loves Nordstrom

Conversing with the super stylish Jules
I gained a lot of knowledge in those brief five minuets I had with her..
Say Cheese!
Yummy strawberry macaroon!

Some of Jules top picks from the Savvy department

Yesterday I had the privilege of meeting with the amazing Jules from the blog Sincerely, Jules. Thanks to Nordstrom, Jules was able to host this event in the Savvy department, talk to her readers and go shopping and style them! She talked to everyone individually, with a warm smile on her face willing to give any advice to anyone. In my brief five minuets with her, she gave me a welcoming smile and hug and asked for my name. Immediately, I was starstruck, as if I were meeting Jlo. One question I asked her was how to get more views for a blog. She told me the number one thing is to be consistent, post everyday, and show something fresh to your readers every time. She also said to brand yourself, give out business cards with your blogs name on it, etc.  Very good advice! Hopefully I will become more consistant, something I have a lot of difficulty with due to all of the exams I have this week. But its almost summer so hopefully I will post at least once a week.
There were also yummy little refresments at the event such as macaroons, apple cider, and chocolate mousse that were handed out to you while you were shopping the cute savvy department.
I was supposed to go do a little dress shopping with her but unfortunately, because of a tight schedule, I had to leave :(
Overall it was an amazing experience and I am glad I was able to attend!
Have a good rest of your weekend!

Denim

Hi everyone! I hope everyone has had an amazing Mother's Day! I know I did. I am so thankful to have such a lovely, beautiful, and caring mom who supports me in everything I do.
I am really into this outfit. It's a really masculine look, but the sparkly heels and the jewelry made it more feminine.
Denim on denim is a bit tricky to figure out. Never ever wear the same shade of denim on both the top and bottom halves of your body, it will look chaotic and will wash you out.
Unfortunately, no one won the giveaway:(. The reason for this is that no one liked at least one platform, which was the criteria to win the crown. But, I did appreciate everyone's nice comments. Hopefully next time I have a giveaway someone will win.
That's all for now

Leather Details

Scarf: Loft (old) | Leather Jacket: Denyl (old) | Top: Forever 21 | Jeans: Hollister | Boots: Steve Madden

Thin Bracelet: From an expo | Pyramid Bracelet: Nordstrom (old)

Leather detailing is very in right now, from small panels in leggings to complete leather dresses with cut outs in them. I have decided to try out the trend and am very happy with it, the small bits of leather add a fun surprise to normal clothing and is an interesting new fabric (even though I guess it is technically not a fabric) to use in garments.
I have lots of exams because of finals coming up so its time to, as usual, go study. Hurrah! StuDYING is literally the most fun thing to do, go finals!
Have a nice weekend :)

A Color Story: Emerald Green

A Color Story: Emerald Green

A Color Story: Emerald Green by leahla featuring a j crew bracelet

In honor of May, I decided to chose it's birthstone, emerald green. This color may seem like it is only for fancy events or like they only work well in the winter, but I prove you wrong! If you (like me) thought that in any case.... This color can also be worn in the summer in fun prints and with different textures. I added the orange/red bangle for a fun little burst of extra color. Both colors work extremely well in warming up you skin tone! Thats all for now!
Off to go study some more...yay....

Country Chic

Top: Forever 21 (old) | Pants: American Eagle | Boots: Cathy Jean
Necklace: Tiffany&co. | Sweet bracelet: Gifted | Watch: Michael Kors | Spikes bracelet: Nordstrom

Happy Friday everyone! This look kind of reminds me of being out by the country side, and I also feel like it would somehow go with shabby chic furniture as well...strange.
The ruffled flowers on the top of the shirt are really soft and fluffy as well as also being somewhat like a piece of jewelry.
Anyway, I have to go finish stuDYING for my AP exam that is on Monday. Wish me luck!
