Like An Art Student

Chambray Shirt: Rubbish | Dress: Target | Belt: Charlotte Russe | Boots: Cathy Jean

Lets dance like no ones watching:D

Hello everyone! If you have not noticed by now, I haven't been blogging for a week or two, how crazy! As usual I have been swamped with homework. Woohoo. But...something has changed. I chopped off all of my hair. How crazy! I couldn't believe I actually went through with it because it took me months and months to grow my hair out. But do you know what? Change is good, so I am pretty happy with the cut.

I am enjoying the last few days of warm weather and bracing myself for the cold (Im crazy, 70 degrees and lower is cold for me) autumn head of us. But the pros of fall are the cozy knit sweaters and colorful leaves that crackle so beautifully when you step on them.

When I put together this outfit I felt sort of like a really awesome art student. But, the look what have looked so much cooler is I owned one of those painting palettes and a colorful barrette. O well. That was my persona for the day!
Have a happy weekendxx

An Interview With: Someone Like You

Yayayay!! Im so excited to share my interview with Lauren from Someone Like You with all of you! I was so ecstatic and honored when she agreed to the interview. Lauren is so so so soo sweet and if you still have not checked out her blog, I COMPLETELY recommend it. I feel as though she is a good friend of mine just by reading what she writes and her pictures are also super captivating. She is such an open, honest and beautiful young lady and I hope to meet her in person one day:) Well enough blabbering from me, here is the interview!

The Wallflower: What was the spark that generated the idea that drove you to start your own blog?

Someone Like You: My 10th grade English teacher mentioned to me one day that I should start a fashion blog to document my outfits. All it took was one person to have faith in me, realize I was worth something. With that, I'd been wanting to find an easier way to write down my every day thoughts versus paper and pen...and thus, Someone Like You; a fashion + diary blog was born!

TW: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give the younger you concerning your blogging

SLY: Blog with more heart. You can never, ever, pour enough of it into your blog.

TW: What is your advice for someone who wants to make their own blog?

SLY: If you want to start a blog, go do it...right now! Really. Blogging is an incredible experience and way to find out more about yourself that I think everyone deserves to have. Be you from the very beginning and start as soon as the idea comes into your mind. Don't waste a single second on 'what if's.'

TW: How would you like to be remembered as a blogger? What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

SLY: I'd hope that people can always see the real Lauren; that my soul shines through. That I was never fake, that this is who I am raw with no inhibitions. I want people to see that this is who I am, no questions asked.

TW: If your blog had a mission statement, what would it be?

SLY: Don't be afraid of who you are. All of those insecurities, struggles, let downs, heart breaks, bumps in the road make your journey so unique and special; it can never be replicated. I hope I can inspire to keep going on their journey, no matter it what it may be. To never give up and embrace who you are.

TW: And to tie into to the previous question, if your style had a mission statement, what would it be?

SLY: Wear what you want, when you what. It doesn't matter if it's your most fancy, beautiful, intricate dress just to wear to classes or out to get coffee. If it's you and it's what you're feeling that day then do it pastedGraphic.pdf

TW: What do you do when you’re not blogging?

SLY: I am a full time student studying fashion merchandising at Kent State University! My whole life revolves around school right now....homework, trying to get involved, attempting at socializing (because I'm so shy!), and working my behind off to reach my dreams.

TW: Where do you find inspiration for your wardrobe?

SLY: Oh, yikes I'm not sure! I just buy what I like and my closet has become a representation of who I am. Thrift stores and antique stores are insanely inspiring more so than modern stores because every piece has a story. Just like people do.

TW: What are some of the best and worst aspects of running your own blog?

SLY: Best: being able to be reached out to by girls (and some guys!) who have similar stories and experiences to my own. I strengthen them and they strengthen me. Worst: with all of the incredible people that come with blogging there's always going to be the people who hate what you do; most of the time without any reason. I've gotten a lot of hate for sharing all of my life on the internet but at the end of the day I can't listen to them; I have to listen to me.

TW:  Looking ahead to the future, what direction are you looking to take your blogging in?

SLY: I just would love to continue on the path I'm on! If I never gained a single more follower I wouldn't care. If you love what you do and you're happy then the 'fame, products, and following' don't matter.

TW:  Do you think your personal style has evolved from when you first started your blog? If yes, how and/or why

SLY: Oh my goodness, can I say yes times a million!? I have changed tremendously. I'm more sure of myself and without a doubt more creative. The old me would have been too scared to wear floral crown or even something as simple as a pair of heels. Now, the skies the limit for dressing pastedGraphic.pdf

TW: When did you first start your blog?

SLY: I started my blog on November 12, 2009! So long ago pastedGraphic_1.pdf

Garden Goddess

Dress: Cecico | Necklace: Michal Negrin (gifted) | Bracelet: Gifted | Shoes: Vince Camuto
Cuff: Icing | Earrings: Clair's (old)
Im like a bird! I wanna fly away!

I had just recently bought this dress (Friday) and jumped at the chance to wear it! It is so unique and different and I have never seen a piece like this in my life before. From the dress style to the lovely intricate design, I feel this dress has quite a lot of charm to it (especially for being mass produced). I got these earrings when I was 8 and I have to say I am very glad I kept them for this was the first time I have ever worn them.

Due to the lack of light outside (it was around 1:30 AM) I had to take these pictures inside and I have also learned that I really enjoy taking the pictures outside. Being outside would have made the shots look a lot better. But anyways, I get to be the lucky student who gets to study all weekend due to a test next week. Yay me! O yes, my interview with Lauren from Someone Like You will be up by next week too. Get excited! I am!

Black Lace

Dress: Divided by H&M | Necklace: Nordstom B.P. | Shoes: Vince Camuto | Bracelets (top to bottom): Israel, Juicy Coture
Headband: Landeau | Rings: Forever 21

You can never go wrong with a classic LBD, so when I found this dress last year I just had to get it. Its classy, cute and can be paired with anything! I mean thats the point of a LBD, right? You can add delicate gold jewelry and light pinks to make it girly, or add a leather jacket and studs to toughen it up.

My weeks have recently been very overwhelming but fun at the same time. Spreading myself thin(it sounds as though I am a yummy fruit jam:D) by all the sports and clubs I am involved with, but I would not trade it for the world. Writing this right now I am completely procrastinating doing my mini essay for tomorrow! Woo! But good news! I will have the lovely Lauren from the blog 'Someone like you' interviewed for my blog. Its going to be so cool! My first interview, yay! If you have not found out about her blog this is the link: http://someonelikeyou18.blogspot.com/. Its super cute and girly and what she writes is so amazing! Im super excited!
Have a happy week!xx

A Color Story: Oxblood

Oxblood

Oxblood by leahla featuring crop tops

It may sound as though the color oxblood is made out of actual ox blood, but I assure you not! It's just a color, a color that is so majorly in for fall right now. This warm and cozy color will not only bring out the natural dark hue into your skin tone but it will also go amazingly well with the red, yellow, and orange autumn leaves that will start to surround us later this month. To make this color not so overwhelming, try pairing it with gold accent jewelry to get a look that will never go out of style. An additional plus to this color is that it works will so well with any outing or occasion you are going to attend. Get ready to stock up on this new and lovely trending color, I know I will!
