Sweet Pea

Headband: Landeau | Necklace: Banana Republic | Sweater: Ann Taylor | Skirt: Topshop | Shoes: Tildon | Watch: Michael Kors | Clutch: Michael Kors

Hello lovlies! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones. This year in "sunny and seventy-five" California, it definitely felt like a beach-y christmas. It truly was quite strange because usually it rains therefore making it feel more cozy and Christmas-esque.
This look it quite a contrast to last weeks dark and edgy outfit. I love it! It is so fun, for me at least, to go between the two extremes. I love going gothic and dark but I also simply adore delicacy, sweetness, and total femininity! This look actually reminds me of the spring 2012 Louis Vuitton campaign. If only I was sitting in a cafe with a cute drink (and bag, or course!) in my hand. *sigh*
Just a little extra thought...I just love the novel The Great Gatsby! The way Fitzgerald writes with such lyrical and poetic thought is so beautiful to read. I also saw the movie version this week, and as usual, the book is way better. But it really helped me gain a better understanding about the characters, the way they act, and why the rich are so careless in the novel. I also loved the art deco architecture, the fabulous clothes, and the killer soundtrack! Watching the film (and having the words being read out loud) has inspired me to talk more eloquently and to try and increase my vocabulary. How is it working out so far? This whole post is inspired by fancy talk ;). Hopefully this can be one New Years resolution I keep and succeed in...because we all know how those turn out. I also think I may want to re-read the book again...for the third time...because it is just so good! Have you read the novel or seen the film? I would love to know your thoughts on either!
More next week,

Dark Ages

 Hat: Forever 21 | Sunglasses: Loft | Lipstick: M.A.C | Necklace: Handmade

The Dark Ages, according to the wonderful web of wikipedia, was a period where there was intellectual darkness and economic regression that occurred in Europe following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire. That's in historical context, but in modern times I consider it to be finals week...DA DA DAHH. Not as dramatic as I thought it would sound, oh well. This past week was my dark ages and it was anything but fun. Hours of studying and sitting and minuscule amounts of sleep definitely was not my cup of tea. But now its over and it feels like the Roaring Twenties, an era of flappers and jazz! Fitting because I had a final on the Great Gatsby. I'm a bit of a history nerd if it is unclear. Just a little side note on the book- it is so spectacular and fantastic! The imagery and detail is so beautiful and it has a very cool way of conveying Fitzgerald's theme of the American Dream which I really appreciated.
Apart from my horrid finals week, I got a bit of a makeover and chopped off all of my hair! It was very nerve-racking at first, but once the deed was done it felt so invigorating and a bit rebellious. I got the idea of a lob from Pinterest and when I saw Tara from Shop Style Conquer's long bob, I knew I wanted something similar. So last week I did so and I have to say I really do love the way it looks!
That is all for now!
More next week:)

Overcast

Necklace: Gift | Top: Loft | Cardigan: Abercrombie & Fitch | Belt: Hollister | Denim: Hollister | Shoes: Keds

Sadly winter is slowly approaching and so are finals. I mean, I guess its not a bad thing...cozy sweaters, hot coco, the Christmas vibes, and a little bit of rain here and there. But I just cant stand the weather; it gets too cold. Like 60 degrees fahrenheit. I know, I know, some people think thats warm, but if you live on the west coast it is a bit harder to adjust because of the constant sun. So as the nights have begun to cool down, I have been bringing my cozy cardigan along with me everywhere I go!
I chose to keep a light and airy color pallet for my outfit to match the serene waters nearby. The relaxing and simple colors are great for any occasion really, and right by the bay was no exception.
Thats all for now!
