Midi Skirts

Midi Skirts

Midi Skirts by leahla featuring an analog watch

Lately I have been obsessing over midi skits...and Gossip Girl.
Spring is around the corner (finally!) and the perfect addition to any wardrobe is, of course, a midi skirt.  Feminine, ladylike, and youthful, midi skirts come on a verity of different skirt styles and fabrics. My personal favorites are the tulle (because it is so princess-y), pleated, and mesh peep through ones (as shown is the last photo).  You can wear it with a basic crop top or an elaborate long sleeve shirt, the possibilities are endless, plus it works for any season.  The only concern I have with these skirts is that they are so large! By large I mean very thick, therefore taking up a lot of closet space. But if you are willing to compromise a little less closet space for a pretty skirt, I definitely recommend a midi skirt. All photos (of people) via Pintrest and I made the collage on Polyvore to show you how I would style these skirts.
Gossip Girl, my latest show addiction, finished airing last year but I finally got around to watching it on Netflix. I have officially learned what binge watching is and how to use Netflix. I know, I'm a bit late to the party. The show is about Upper East Side New York kids and their daily lives narrated by Kristen bell, who plays the voice of Gossip Girl. If you haven't already seen it, I completely recommend watching it, unless you want to keep your social life, then I recommend you stay away from it. But if you have time or are board, you should go check out the show.
That's all for now!

A Color Story: Jet Black

A Color Story: Jet Black

A Color Story: Jet Black by leahla featuring a black skirt

Black is both one of my favorite and least favorite colors. As one of the basic colors, black it is able to be dressed either up or down very, very simply. You can wear a complete black on black ensemble or keep it very minimal in what you wear. Black is a classic color that goes with anything and everything. For a full on black outfit it can be very glamorous, sexy, edgy, gothic, cool, chic and so much more depending on how you style your look. To not look like you are being swallowed by a giant black hole of fabric, mix your look up by adding different textures, prints, patterns and proportions to your outfit.
The reason why it is also one of my least favorite colors is because black it too black. How can that be? Its such a classic and simple color that has a multitude of different ways to be used. I think it is because it is a very dark color and I enjoy happy, bright, radient colors that capture my personality more because I am a very bubbly person.
For this set I created it all with pieces I have been lusting over for quite sometime now. *Sigh*
A girl can dream...
More next week!

A Color Story: Burnt Orange

A Color Story: Burnt Orange

A Color Story: Burnt Orange by leahla featuring a burnt orange skirt

Autumn is quickly approaching with the already crisp cool breeze and it is the first time that I can honestly say that I am excited for this season. Normally I dread the winter and fall months because of how cold I get (I get cold VERY easily) but I am excited for the warmth of all the holidays, the pumpkins and yummy hot drinks I can have. A deep orange represents the welcoming of the season to me. The warmth of the orange makes me want to go curl up by the fire with a fluffy blanket at my side. I did not want the orange to be so overwhelming that it makes anyone nauseous so I decided to add hints of it in this skirt I chose, in the flower crown and nail polish. The rose gold watch also has a hint of warmth to it allowing for a nice burnt orange color palette.
Thats all for this week!

A Color Story: Canary Yellow

A Color Story: Canary Yellow

A Color Story: Canary Yellow by leahla featuring a ribbon bead necklace

There is not a single item in my closet even with the slightest bit of yellow on it. Yellow is definitely not one of my favorite colors but it has been growing on me recently. Yellow reminds me of sunshine and happiness and I like pastel yellow lace tops with collars on them or a cute circle mini skirt...specific much? Neon yellow is a great way to brighten up any outfit and canary yellow looks lovely in the spring. Although we are heading into autumn, yellow can still be worn to help make gloomy days more bright :)
A couple days ago my friends hosted a surprise bonfire at the beach for our other friend. Around 20 people showed up to wish her a happy birthday. When the birthday girl arrived, she was blindfolded and told she was going to the movies. But when she stepped out of the car and felt sand she started asking very loudly where she was and if she was on sand. If was very funny to see her reaction to where she was and when she took off the blindfolds there was a chorus of "SURPRISE!"She was very surprised and confused at first but enjoyed the event in her honor. It was a nice bonding experience and by the end of the night everyone smelt like firewood and burnt marshmellows. It was a good day.
Thats all for now!
Have a great weekend!

A Color Story: Citrus

A Color Story: Citrus

A Color Story: Citrus by leahla featuring zara flats

A fresh new hue that I love? Citrus! Mixing the different fruity shades together create a very bright and yummy palette to wear. Citrus hues brighten up your skin tone as well as make you feel super happy (because of the bright colors). To keep the outfits from getting boring, mixing the shades together will create stand out style and will feel super spring-y. With these Spring reminiscent ensembles, you will literally feel the flowers bloom and not the hot sun beating down on your skin (cheesy much?). Thats all for now! Have a nice weekend!

A Color Story: Leafy Greens

A Color Story: Leafy Greens

A Color Story: Leafy Greens by leahla featuring a pink nail polish

For this months color story, I wanted to try something a bit different. Focus on a main color (in this case green) pair it with a texture, pattern, cut, etc, and create an outfit out of it. Since there are so many variations and colors of the spectrum, I thought this would be a good idea, and frankly, it went well...otherwise this would not have been posted. Recently I have been obsessing over the idea of short matching suits and flat forms. The suits are so different compared to wearing jeans and a tee or a dress. In their own way they are bold and fresh, they are surprising. Flatforms are something I am starting to warm up to because they are like heels but don't give you any pain, at least I suspect they don't.  The whole look it so trendy, a new catch phrase of mine. Hopefully it wont be like fetch in Mean Girls and people might actually start using it. Ha! Thats all for now! Have a good week!

A Color Story: Emerald Green

A Color Story: Emerald Green

A Color Story: Emerald Green by leahla featuring a j crew bracelet

In honor of May, I decided to chose it's birthstone, emerald green. This color may seem like it is only for fancy events or like they only work well in the winter, but I prove you wrong! If you (like me) thought that in any case.... This color can also be worn in the summer in fun prints and with different textures. I added the orange/red bangle for a fun little burst of extra color. Both colors work extremely well in warming up you skin tone! Thats all for now!
Off to go study some more...yay....

A Color Story: Porcelain Blue

Porcelain Blue

Porcelain Blue by leahla featuring mary katrantzou

Although porcelain is not a color, china pieces with intricate blue detailing appeal to me. So I guess the blue and white mix is a color...combination. In each of these three ensembles, there are small details that make each piece unique. Metallic blue is a beautiful shimmery color on pretty much everyone. If you add cool little details in your outfit, I am positive you will stand out from the crowd. I don't really have much to say, but porcelain blue is a wonderful color (combination) and I think it would be a fun idea/color to try out.
Have a nice weekend!xx

A Color Story: Neon Yellow

A Color Story: Neon Yellow

A Color Story: Neon Yellow by leahla featuring a leather shoulder bag

Neon Yellow. A very bright and bold color. To wear such a radiant color, I would suggest wearing it in little bursts to make your outfit more fun and surprising (in a good way). Plus, it is also a major confident booster, making you stand out wherever you are! Neon yellow also helps brighten up your skin tone. Try this color out for a bit and see how you like it. I know I will!

A Color Story: Soft Pinks

A Color Story: Soft Pinks

A Color Story: Soft Pinks by leahla featuring a pink diamond ring

Because Valentine's Day is so close, I can almost smell the date I wont have. :P (I think that is how the joke goes) In honor of the day of love, I decided to go with a romantic soft pink opposed to a bold red (partially because I used it last moth). This shade is super cute and girly and reminds me of Taylor Swift for some reason. This pink is also, in my opinion, welcoming spring ( I know... it sounds weird). Pastel is also going to be really big for spring and this blush tone is also a nice alternative to the bright and crazy pattens that have been going on this past season. That is all I have for tonight! I hope you have an eventful Valentine's Day, I have a test that day a date with some unfinished homework. I know...I still am making bad jokes.
Have a good weekend!

A Color Story: Purple Pleasures

Purple Pleasures

Purple Pleasures by leahla featuring a dip dye shirt

Purple has been infatuating me for a while now so I decided, why not have it be the color of the month?I also just painted my nails a lilac color just a few hours ago, what a coincidence! Personally, I like deep, rich purples as well as soft, pastel purples. If you decide to go with a rich plum purple, it will warm up your skin tone. Purple can virtually go with any color and can also easily be dressed up or down. If you are wearing a single dark shade, neon purple accessories will make the attire so much more interesting. Have a nice long weekend!

RED.

Hi everyone!
I hope you are all having an amazing holiday and winter break. I just got off school and am already feeling sick:(. Hopefully I'll be better soon. For this months color(s) I decided to do royal blue and red because those are the colors of this months leading holidays, Hanukah and Christmas. I love the richness in the blue and it is so classy and bright. The red is so classic and super festive for this months holidays.
Have an amazing break and happy holydays!

A Color Story: Army Green

Army Green

Hello lovlies!
I hope you all had a fun filled October. As usual, I had the overjoying duty of homework!. Woohoo! I have not had a free day until today, so I decided to do the monthly color. I chose army green because I have been swooning over this color for the past few weeks. I don't know why but I really adore this color. I normally tend to go for bright colors but something about the tones in this color make me really happy. How strange.
When wearing an outfit that is one solid and strong color, things tend to become a bit overwhelming and yucky. Because of that, I decided to pair a raspberry color with this shade of green so that there is some brightness and fun to the aesthetic of this outfit. Plus and unexpected pop of color makes everything better!

A Color Story: Autumn Leaves-A Mix of Deep Oranges

Autumn Leaves

On a bit of a lighter and more happier note, here is the color of the month! Woohoo! As the leaves begin to change colors and pumpkin flavored everything hits the stores, you bring on the layers, and orange is a must! Practically everything in October is a deep orange plus, pops of orange anywhere in your wardrobe is super fun and has a little element of surprise. A Color Story: Oxblood

Oxblood

Oxblood by leahla featuring crop tops

It may sound as though the color oxblood is made out of actual ox blood, but I assure you not! It's just a color, a color that is so majorly in for fall right now. This warm and cozy color will not only bring out the natural dark hue into your skin tone but it will also go amazingly well with the red, yellow, and orange autumn leaves that will start to surround us later this month. To make this color not so overwhelming, try pairing it with gold accent jewelry to get a look that will never go out of style. An additional plus to this color is that it works will so well with any outing or occasion you are going to attend. Get ready to stock up on this new and lovely trending color, I know I will!
